What is Genuine Adirondack?

Genuine Adirondack is the only  website that is dedicated solely to Vendors within the Adirondack Region which enables its Vendors to sell their products directly to consumers.

What is the "Adirondack Region"?

"Adirondack Region" means those New York State counties as defined by the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA), the Adirondack Land Trust and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation that have land within the New York State Adirondack Park, namely; Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Oneida, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Warren and Washington.

Are all the Vendors on this website really from the Adirondack Region?

Absolutely. All of our Vendors are approved before they can post products within the website. We have a strict agreement with them and verify that their products and services meet our stringent guidelines.

OK. So the Vendors are from the Adirondack Region. What about their products and services?

We have strong agreements with our Vendors to reasonably assure that the products and services you find on our website are made in accordance with our criteria. For example, Vendors must be located within the Adirondack Region and their products must be made here to the extent they can be. We make our Vendor Terms and Conditions and Vendor Code of Conduct pages open to the public so that you know we are a website you can trust. We hope to have many Vendors on our website and hope that all of them will abide by their agreements with us.

I am a service provider and do not sell products online, can I get my business listed on GenuineAdirondack.com?

Of course. We have an entire section devoted to businesses within the Adirondack Region that meet our criteria for placement within the website. Businesses who maintain listings within the website are Genuine Adirondack Vendors too and must meet the same criteria as those Vendors who sell products here. Please see our Vendor Terms and Conditions for more information.

Can anyone sign up to be a Genuine Adirondack Vendor?

Becoming a Genuine Adirondack Vendor requires (a) registration within the website, (b) the completion of a Prospective Vendor Application, (c) a verified personal or business PayPal account as the Vendor is paid directly to their PayPal account once a purchase within the website is made and (d) verification of the location of the manufacture of their product or rendering of their service.

All Vendors need to be over the age of 18 or have a parent or legal guardian manage their account and submit notarized verification. Minors under the age of 18 and at least 13 years of age are allowed to sell on Genuine Adirondack only if they have parental permission and direct supervision of their parent or legal guardian who is the owner of the account.No Vendors under the age of 13 are allowed.

Does my product have to be in the "Adirondack style" in order to for me to place it on the site?

If your're meaning to ask if your product has to be "rustic", as many "Adirondack" products are, then the answer is - of course not!

Remember, Genuine Adirondack is not limited to any style or genre in particular. Genuine Adirondack is only limited in the respect as to where products are manufactured and produced as well as, in some cases, where the material comprising the products is sourced from, where services are provided, where a business is located and where events are held.

We encourage all Vendors, of whatever nature or type, to express their creative works in whatever form they find best for them and we hope that this website will help them find a market for their expressions, share the region's many wonders and experiences and help make our "Genuine Adirondack" community something unique and special.

What should I do if I need to return an item or want a refund?

Genuine Adirondack facilitates sales for its Vendors and is not involved in the transactions between buyers and sellers. In case you need to return an item or request a refund please contact the Vendor directly. The Vendor's contact information will appear in your order.

What exactly happens after ordering?

Although you will be checking out with one shopping cart you, and each Vendor whom you have purchased from, will receive separate e-Mail confirmation for each product you have ordered. Once your order is fulfilled by the Vendor the Vendor will log in to their Vendor account, indicate they have filled and shipped the order and you will then be automatically notified via e-mail that your product is on it's way.

As a Vendor, what happens if I forget to let you know that I've sold a product and it gets sold on the Genuine Adirondack website?

As you can imagine, its very important that any products you sell out of outside the website be removed from GenuineAdirondack.com. However, mistakes happen.

The first thing you should do is try your best to recreate the product for the user and e-mail the user to let them know their item will be delivered as soon as possible. If you can't remake the item then immediately notify us and we will remove the item from our store to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Then, you will need to login to your PayPal account and issue a full refund to the user, including the shipping cost. Please let us know that a refund was issued, the user's name and the PayPal transaction number for the refund.
